24-hour air combat patrol. john mccain says the rebels are his heroes. we ll be doing a press thing later on this afternoon. i m meeting with the council and the military and meeting with lots of people. gregg: conor powell is streaming live from benghazi. reporter: american officials are trying to figure out who are these rebels. senator mccain is meeting with members of the leadership. i met with officials from the libyan opposition and saw memorials to the libyan fighters who have been killed here in recent weeks. he called these libyan fighters his heros. he says he s here primarily to figure out who they are and gauge the situation here on the ground. we understand he s meeting with the members of the council. he will have a press conference later today to talk about what he has seen and heard. he s only expected to be here for a day or so. the conflict started in february and since then senator mccain has been a vocal supporters of u.s. intervention in libya. ....
