(1) Swine flu shots slated at EN School October 17, cancelled. (2) 104 years young, the New Era continues to run its own printing presses. The tentative program included special music, dedication speech by state Rep. Roe; presentation of Bicentennial momentos to Historical Society, presentation of Bicentennial funds to Park Board. Following the program there was going to be a large “Happy Birthday, U.S.A.” birthday cake baked and decorated by Mrs. Joyce Leatherman.

Brown is top citizen

ALBION — On a day when the Albion Rotary Club announced a back-to-normal meeting schedule, it chose to honor someone in the community who does so much more than normal. Albion Rotarian Joy LeCount introduced Jason Brown, 43, as the club’s Citizen of the Year during Thursday’s luncheon gathering at the Albion Pizza Depot. “I was surprised,” Brown said. “I was shocked. It feels awesome.” LeCount had invited Brown to speak at Thursday’s meeting under the guise of a program involving Brown’s work with the Indiana Deaf Camp. Brown and LeCount did do that program — and it was a big reason LeCount said Brown was deserving of the honor.
