TikTok remix star Tiagz was declared Ottawa’s artist of the year in the second annual Capital Music Awards, which were handed out May 7 during a pre-recorded online show. 
The 23-year-old Ottawa-born singer/dancer/musician, whose given name is Tiago Garcia-Arenas, broke onto the world stage over the past year by creating short, catchy rap songs out of viral sound clips. After uploading them to TikTok, the platform’s most popular creators took over, using his clips in their videos and expanding his reach exponentially.  ....

When the pandemic began last March, Shawn Tavenier had just one job. “Now, I have four,” the 40-year-old Vanier resident says.
