We're all talking 2024 but today is the later signing day for 2023 and Michigan won't come away empty-handed, as DE/DT Cameron Brandt announced his flip from a Stanford commitment. Brandt was close to signing with the Cardinal last December, but held off due to David Shaw stepping down. Michigan, who got involved last summer when Brandt's stock was rising, quickly moved back in, got him on campus for a visit, and closed the deal just before the dead period. A DT everybody!!! Maybe not one they can play right away, but one they can play eventually! Seriously what do these things at the end of my arms do? This one is a top-250 player to Rivals, which ranks him the #14 SDE, a high three-star and the #30 DT to 247, and the 208th player and #22 DE to ESPN.
At 6’4”/260 the St. Peters Prep product is likely ticketed for 3-tech. The son of the former NY Giants DL kept his recruitment mostly a mystery to the services while considering Penn State, Boston College, Michigan, and his father’s alma mater of Syracuse. Rooks’s sister played basketball at Michigan. Shawn Nua and Sherrone Moore both played a major role in making Rooks feel comfortable following her.

Michigan has assistant coaches again, which means they get to recruit again. It’s been a minute since an update so we’ll go over the shape of the end of 2021 recruiting, then give an overview of 2022 recruiting and, if there’s anything available, transfer recruiting.
The Xavier Worthy Question
It appears Michigan has dodged a self-inflicted bullet here. Admissions decided not to let him enroll early for some reason nobody including Worthy seems to understand. Both Rivals and 247 have noted Worthy was the first of Michigan’s class to graduate his high school, and did so with a 3.5 GPA. Via Worthy himself he is in Ann Arbor, and is being patient with whatever’s going on over in tweedville.

Ratings are on a curved 5-star scale that averages all available data.
