In the pre-COVID-19 world that now feels long ago, the Arkansas Arts Council sponsored the Artists in Education program that sent professional artists into public schools with dynamic blends of cross-curricular art content. The goal was to bring art alive for students who otherwise might have limited arts access.
Now this program, like so many others, is adapting and changing because schools are not allowing outside programming due to the coronavirus precautions. However, adaptation can be an exciting opportunity for growth. With a little inspiration from the iconic show “Mr. Rogers Neighborhood,” a lot of love for our regional artists, and much support from the community, the team at the Center for Art and Education is determined to reach the schools in a new way.
