Marie Varsos regained consciousness in enough time to see her husband, Shaun, rummaging through her pockets before he pointed a loaded gun at her and threatened to kill them both, according to a police report she filed on March 8.
The Varsoses were in the middle of a divorce. Marie returned to the couple s home to pick up some belongings, but Shaun refused to let her leave, according to the police report.
Marie Varsos told police she was able to get away after talking him down. The police report noted she had visible marks on her neck, likely from strangulation.

Marie met Shaun Varsos when they both worked at a movie theater in Bellevue. That movie theater later flooded and was turned into a shooting range where the two would go shoot guns together.
That anecdote took on a tragic irony when Marie’s brother, Alex Youn, got a phone call the morning of April 12.
“Shaun had shot Marie and my mother,” he says. “And at the time I didn’t know if they were alive or dead.”
Shaun had gone to Marie’s mom’s house in Lebanon and confronted Marie as she was leaving for work.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) â Three lives were lost in a murder-suicide Monday morning and now family friends say theyâre torn on what to do next.
While some want to grieve the loss, they also want answers on what stood in the way of confiscating Shaun Varsosâ firearms.
Noah Savant has known Deborah Sisco and her daughter Marie for the last 25 years. Sisco served as president of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) Local 3808, where Savant says they were more like family.

Shaun Varsos killed his wife and her mother in their Whispering Oaks Drive home in Lebanon on Monday morning before he returned to Nashville where he died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Family, friends and neighbors are still devastated from the “senseless” murder of Deborah Sisco and her daughter Marie Varsos, who had recently filed for a divorce from Shaun Varsos.
Friends said Sisco was a friend to everyone.
“She never knew anybody that was not a friend. It was like you were almost instant friends when you talked to her,” said Eleanor Zimmerle, a friend and coworker of Sisco.
