SC to hear plea of Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui on 31st National May 28, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court will take up next week the petition of sacked judge of Islamabad High Court Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui challenging the notification of the President terminating his service. A five-member larger bench headed by Justice Umer Ata Bandial will hear the petition on May 31. Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui had filed an application in the Supreme Court on April 28, requesting for fixing his case at the earliest, as he was going to retire on June 30. He had submitted that since his removal from office he had not been employed for gain, adding that he like millions of other citizens had been guaranteed fundamental rights. Justice Siddiqui had challenged before the apex court the decision of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), recommending his removal from his post for misconduct as well as a notification of the government issued on Oct 11, 2018, terminating his service. ....
Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin slams IMF for forcing Pak govt to increase electricity tariff Pakistan Mon, May 03, 2021 Newly-appointed Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin on Monday slammed the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for forcing Pakistan to increase the electricity tariff and termed it “injustice”. Tarin spoke about the global money lender in a meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Finance, Revenue, and Economic Affairs. The meeting was chaired by the committee chairman, Faiz Ullah Kamoka. “IMF did injustice to Pakistan, the demand to increase the electricity tariff is unjustified,” said the minister, adding that the price hike had stopped the economy from moving forward and also increased corruption. ....

IHC fixes NAB appeals against Shaukat Tarin for hearing National April 18, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday fixed appeals of the National Accountanbility Bureau (NAB) against newly appointed finance minister Shaukat Tarin’s acquittal in Sahiwal and Piraghaib Rental Power references for hearing on June 1. A two-judge bench headed by Justice Aamir Farooq will take up the appeals. The corruption watchdog has challenged an accountability court’s verdicts of acquitting Tarin in the Piraghaib and Sahiwal Rental Power references. Last week, an IHC bench disposed of a plea seeking early hearing of the appeals. A two-member bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Tariq Mahmood took up the application moved by Tarin. ....
