Crystal Creek asphalt plant west of Redding stirs up resident concerns


A group of residents who live in Keswick and Shasta are gearing up to fight the construction of an asphalt plant they say would create dust, pollution, noise and heavy truck traffic in the area west of Redding.
Members of the group have begun circulating petitions to gather signatures of residents who are against building an asphalt plant at the Crystal Creek Aggregate quarry on Iron Mountain Road in Keswick.
Residents say the plant would be noisy, create pollution from dust and other foul odors from chemicals used to make asphalt and bring into the area hundreds of trucks going to and from the site.  ....
