record. that begins to bring that kind of music back. at the end of the 80s, everyone came to the same conclusion. something new needs to happen here, and it needs to be real sounding. less produced. at this music that was bubbling out of places like portland and seattle and dancelike nirvana that were looking to fit in with what was being played on mtv or played on radio eventually, radio and mtv came to them. the seeds of what will happen in the next decade are all there by the end of the 80s. rem was something new entirely.
