Norwood joins in call to obtain ARP funds from Norfolk County
Wicked Local
NORWOOD – Norwood is slated to receive $2.9 million in funds from the American Rescue Plan, a federal program providing financial relief to communities impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
The town could receive more if Norfolk County releases part its ARP allocation, estimated at $137 million.
According to Town Manager Tony Mazzucco, the county received ARP funds even though it is not responsible for the county’s schools (aside from Norfolk Agricultural), public health programs or other infrastructure handled by communities.
During a discussion with the Board of Selectmen on April 20, Mazzucco said Norwood is teaming up with other Norfolk County communities to ask county government officials to transfer at least some of the funds to communities.
