Broadband Expansion in Marshall County

NASHVILLE – Senator Shane Reeves (R-Murfreesboro) made the following statement in regards to the announcement by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development that a $782,976 grant has been awarded to expand broadband to 371 addresses in unserved communities of Marshall and Bedford Counties through the United Telephone Company. The project amount is $1.56 million with the grantee contract match at 50 percent.
Sen. Reeves said, “This grant is great news as we continue our efforts to get more broadband services into our rural communities. There has never been a more important time to improve connectivity than now. Broadband is not only critical to create high quality jobs for our citizens, it is needed in homes for education, telemedicine, farming and other needs that improve the quality of life for families.
