Kolkata, May 24 : The West Bengal Health Department late on Monday confirmed that two persons died of mucormycosis, commonly known as black fungus , out of the 12 confirmed cases and five suspected cases in the state. Till today (Monday), there are 12 confirmed cases of mucormycosis, and out of them, four were from Bihar and one from Jharkhand. No new case was reported today. Out of the 12 confirmed cases, six are Covid or post Covid, and three out of five suspects. Others are not associated with Covid, but almost all have uncontrolled diabetes, the Health Department release said.

Kolkata, May 24 : Though the state health department is yet to confirm any deaths owing to mucormycosis, commonly known as Black Fungus infection, seven persons have been infected and eight more are suspected to be suffering from Black Fungus infection in the state.
Even as there are two cases of suspected deaths related to the infection, the department said that those are under inspection.
A release issued by the state health department says seven persons have been confirmed with Black Fungus infection. There are eight more persons who are suspected to be infected by the virus but they are undergoing treatment and the medical board is yet to confirm this.
Siliguri (West Bengal) [India], May 23 (ANI): A 50-year-old woman, a resident of Siliguri's Kulipara is reported to be infected with suspected Mucormycosis, commonly known as black fungus, a post-COVID complication and has been admitted to the ENT ward in North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH).
A 32-year-old woman died of mucormycosis, commonly associated with Covid-19 infection, while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kolkata in the first instance of death due to "black fungus" in West Bengal, a state Health Department official said today. Shampa Chakraborty, a resident of Haridevpur in south Kolkata, was admitted to the state-run Sambhunath Pandit Hospital with
