Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: JK Cricket Team A team led by Parvaiz Rasool won the toss and opted to bowl. Batting first Karnataka managed to set the total of 150 for five in their allotted twenty overs. Parvaiz Rasool bowled an economical spell by taking two wickets and considering only 18 runs in his four overs. However, Aquib Nabi took two wickets and Abid Mushtaq took one wicket. Ahmad Banday and Qamran Iqbal were the opener pair for JK. However, both were looking good till the ist wicket fell down in the last ball of fourth over on the score of 25. ....
Shakir Ashraf SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Police’s charge sheet in the Amshipora, Shopian “fake” encounter has brought to the fore how an army Captain Bhupinder Singh hatched the conspiracy to kill three young men while keeping his senior in the dark. The chargesheet states that no police report was taken before establishing contact with the alleged militants at the site of the encounter while the accused officer did not inform his seniors “till the last moment of design.” As per the charge sheet, Captain Singh along with two civilians, Tabish Nazir Malik and Bilal Lone staged the encounter while tampering with evidence. ....
J&K’s Badshah Khan Set To Wrestle In WWE Shakir Ashraf SRINAGAR: Arif Saleem Bohru popularly known as ‘Badshah Khan’ is all set to become the first professional wrestler from Jammu and Kashmir to fight in World Wrestling Entertainment’s (WWE) India tryouts scheduled early next year. Badshah Khan Arif, who is just 23, has earned the title Badshah Khan from Indian wrestling giant, the Great Khali in whose Jalandhar academy he is currently enrolled. Already among the top-five pro-level wrestlers in India, Arif will make his debut in the coveted WWE next year if he qualifies the tryouts. A resident of Neel area of Banihal, Arif is six foot two inches tall. He has already won many competitions at the district and state levels. Today, Saleem is considered to be one of the toughest wrestlers in India having played 100 odd matches with a winning percentage of 85 per cent. ....
Iqbaliyat Scholar Gets Rare Malaysian Fellowship Shakir Ashraf SRINAGAR: Dr Ajaz Ahmad Lone, hailing from north Kashmir’s Baramulla has become the first person from Jammu and Kashmir to bag the prestigious post-doctoral research fellowship in the Department of Social Foundations and Educational Leadership, Kulliyyah of Education at the International Islamic University Malaysia. Dr Ajaz Ahmad Lone Currently posted as a contractual lecturer in Sociology Department at Boys Degree College Sopore, Dr Ajaz said he was “overwhelmed” and “surprised” when he received the confirmation letter of his fellowship from the Islamic University of Malaysia. Terming it his most festive moment, Dr Ajaz said, “I am ecstatic that I received this fellowship.” ....
