View Comments After about two hours of deliberating over two days, a jury in Broome County Court found a Johnson City man guilty of manslaughter in the death of his girlfriend s 11-year-old son. Larry Harris, 46, also faced a second-degree murder charge in the Feb. 2, 2019 death of Johnson City fifth-grader Jerome Smith. Of that charge, the jury determined Harris was not guilty. Clarification of the murder charge definition was the only question raised by the jury during deliberations. Harris faces up to 25 years in prison. Jerome Smith died at the Burbank Avenue residence where he lived with his mother, sister and Harris. Johnson City police said at the time the death was being investigated as suspicious. ....
