LAHORE: PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah has said the NAB has transformed into an avenger from an investigative body.
Talking to media after the bail of PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif here Wednesday, Rana Sanaullah said Prime Minister Imran Khan and PM’s Adviser on Accountability and Interior Shahzad Akbar were controlling the NAB.
He said so far NAB has failed to prove corruption of a single rupee against Shahbaz. He said when oppression and injustice grow out of control then they disappear. He said we got justice though it was delayed so even then, we were thankful to the courts. “If there is no judiciary, then there is chaos in the society,” he added. ....

ISLAMABAD: The Adviser to PM, on Accountability, Shahzad Akbar, brushed aside allegations of selective application of law against Jehangir Tareen or others and said that all are equal before the law and added that neither anyone was being targeted nor spared in the sugar scam inquiries.
Speaking here at a news conference Saturday, Shahzad Akbar, emphasized that at least during the PTI government, the law would not protect or target anyone. He added that some sugar mill groups challenged the orders of the federal cabinet given in the light of the Sugar Inquiry Commission. ....

LAHORE: Adviser to Prime Minister on Accountability and Interior Shahzad Akbar on Thursday said the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) exposed the sugar mafia’s involvement in monetary fraud, speculative trade and money laundering after obtaining evidence of continued increase in sugar prices spurred through artificial shortage of the commodity.
He said the FIA unearthed solid evidence in the operations through data retrieved from digital devices belonging to the sugar mafia which showed how they controlled the prices.
Addressing a press conference at 90 Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam here on Thursday, Shahzad shared the details of gambling “Satta’’ and those involved in investing in sugar mafia. He said the sugar mafia never agreed to fix the sugar ex-mill price. However, when it comes to taking subsidy, they come forward to set the ex-mill price. ....

Sugar 'gamblers' make tens of millions a day: Shahzad

LAHORE: Shahzad Akbar, the Prime Minister’s adviser on accountability and interior, said on Thursday that sugar speculators earn about 500,000-1,000,000 rupees a day while major “gamblers” make as much as 30 to 40 million daily from speculative trade.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Akbar shared details of the “Satta mafia” and those involved in investing in the “sugar mafia”, during which he said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Tareen would be prosecuted as per law and insisted “no one will be given an NRO”.
Akbar’s comments came after the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) booked Tareen and his son Ali, among other members of his family in two cases pertaining to financial embezzlement and money laundering. ....
