Tirah people to get compensation cheques: MPA

TIRAH: The newly-elected office-bearers of the Anjuman-e-Tajiran of Tirah valley on Monday took the oath of their offices.
Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Shafiq Afridi, who was the chief guest, administered oath to the office-bearers at a ceremony here. Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) Aamir Zeb, politicians, shopkeepers, members of civil society and elders were present on the occasion.
The newly-elected office-bearers included President Sher Muhammad Afridi and others. MPA Shafiq Afridi said the Tirah valley people had been facing a lot of problems for the last several years. “Now, the KP government is focussing on the merged districts to provide all facilities to the people,” MPA added. ....

PESHAWAR: Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday directed the Advocate General to take up with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly speaker the incident involving two lawmakers accused of creating law and order situation and misbehaving with healthcare staff at a public sector hospital.
The chief justice expressed concern over recent reports about two lawmakers who allegedly ransacked public properties at the hospital and misbehaved with doctors and other staff members.
“The doctors and health staff are fighting against Covid-19 in the frontline and everyone should support and encourage them instead of creating hurdles for them,” the chief justice observed. ....

PESHAWAR: Resenting the non-implementation of the last year’s legislation for the prevention of violence against health workers, the Provincial Doctors Association has warned that the medics will suspend the management of coronavirus patients in hospitals if the government doesn’t act against MPAs Nighat Orakzai and Shafiq Afridi for ransacking the Hayatabad Medical Complex and torturing staff members.
The PDA leaders told
Dawn that health professionals would stop offering coronavirus-related services to patients in hospitals as a last resort if perpetrators of the Friday violence at the HMC weren’t booked and dealt with strictly. ....

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has ordered an inquiry into the alleged violence by two MPAs against doctors in the Hayatabad Medical Complex on Friday night.
The hospital’s doctors stopped offering elective services to the visitors and warned that they would observe a complete strike, including withdrawal of Covid-19 services, from Wednesday if a strict action wasn’t taken against both lawmakers in accordance with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Healthcare Service Providers and Facilities (Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property) Act, 2021, passed by the government to protect health workers and patient rights. ....
