Jan. 2 Assorted observations from the Warriors’ home-opening 123-98 loss to Portland on Friday night:
After considerable anticipation over Draymond Green’s season debut, he was listed only as “probable” before the game, and we discovered why. Over 18 choppy minutes, he didn’t look quite ready to exert his customary influence on the floor. That wasn’t going to happen immediately, not as Green adjusts to the Warriors’ new players and schemes, so it falls right into the overall theme: patience required. He did come up with four rebounds and four assists without really bothering to score (0-for-3 shooting). ....
