Oman participates in global WHO meet | Times of Oman

Muscat: The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Health (MOH) took part today in the virtual meeting of the 149th session of the Executive Board (EB) of the World Health Organisation (WHO).
H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Saidi, Minister of Health and First Deputy Member of the WHO Executive Board represented the Sultanate in the meeting along with the presence of Ambassador Idris bin Abdul Rahman Al-Khanjari, Sultanate s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and International Organisations in Geneva, H.E. Dr. Fatma bint Mohammed Al-Ajmi, MOH Undersecretary for administrative, Financial and Planning Affairs and a number of senior officials from the Ministry and Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” MOH said in a statement. ....

Updating WHO’s global strategy for malaria
Representatives from malaria-affected countries and partner organizations gathered on 28 January in a WHO virtual forum to share feedback and perspectives on the Global technical strategy for malaria 2016-2030. Inputs from a diverse group of stakeholders will be reflected in an updated strategy, which will be published in June 2021.
The 15-year WHO strategy – adopted by the World Health Assembly in May 2015 – is designed to guide and support all countries working to control and eliminate malaria. It sets four global targets for 2030, as well as interim milestones to track progress (Table 1).
As reported in the most recent edition of the World malaria report, progress towards two of the strategy’s 2020 milestones is off course: reducing global mortality rates and case incidence by at least 40%.
