James Dixon’s portrayal of Canewell in PassinArt’s forthcoming production of Seven Guitars, will be his third role with Oregon’s longest producing Black theater company. And it will be his second written by August Wilson.
PassinArt: A Theatre Company presents August Wilson’s Seven Guitars from Wilson’s 10-play Century Cycle, also known as The Pittsburgh Cycle, which explores the African American experience decade-by-decade in the 20th century.
Seid’s turn in Seven Guitars will be her second time out with PassinArt. She directed Hazardous Beauty by Bonnie Ratner in 2019. Before and after that, she’s written and directed a major body of work including Petite Dames, Path of Glory, The Great God of the Dark Storm Cloud, Jordan’s Wisdom, Overdue, Stand by Me, and This is Message Number 13.
