The lone survivor of a mass shooting in South Carolina that left six dead, including the shooter, has shown promising signs of improvement since being shot Wednesday, but a long road to recovery lies ahead. Robert Shook of Cherryville was working at a rural home in York County, South Carolina, when a gunman, yielding 9mm and .45-caliber handguns, shot him and five other people. Everyone at the home, including his work partner, James Lewis, died from their injuries, except for Shook, who continues to fight for his life following multiple surgeries at Atrium Health s Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
