Adrian house deemed hazardous, to be razed

WORTHINGTON After years of working with property owners to address a public health nuisance, Nobles County Community Services requested action from commissioners Tuesday to raze a house at 108 Kentucky Ave., Adrian. The home is owned by LeRoy and Lori Pettibone, who continue to reside at the residence.
The county’s public health unit has responded to complaints about the property since the fall of 2019, and nuisance issues continue to persist.
Jason Kloss, environmental health manager with Southwest Health and Human Services, completed an updated inspection of the home on April 8. His report details numerous concerns, from food residue and food packaging and debris accumulating in every room of the property to human feces accumulating in the toilet, animal feces accumulating on the floor, non-functioning freezers and a refrigerator that contained decaying f ....

County to seek architect for crisis center design


Facility needs to be ready by late 2022 to receive grant.

WORTHINGTON Days after hearing of the struggles to find an operator for a proposed eight-bed mental health crisis center at the former KidsPeace Prairie Academy, Nobles County commissioners on Tuesday authorized a request for proposals seeking an architect to complete a design showing the renovations needed to retrofit the facility.
Completing the design and specifications for the proposed center will help the county meet its goal of having the facility ready by the end of 2022.
Nobles County Community Services Director Stacie Golombiecki said a basic conceptual design was completed by architects with Avera several years ago in order to apply for a state grant. The county was awarded nearly $847,000 in 2018 for the remodel with no matching funds required. ....
