JOHOR BARU: Iskandar Puteri will have a new Chinese primary school soon with the completion of SJKC Cheah Fah, which is slated to begin classes next January. Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon said the RM15mil school located in Sunway Iskandar was currently 85% completed, some 5% ahead of schedule. He said construction was expected to finish in August, with the school expected to receive its Certificate of Completion and Compliance in October. “If all goes well, we expect classes to begin in January 2022. The school can accommodate more than 900 pupils. It will be quite impressive with 24 classrooms and an air-conditioned multi-purpose hall. ....

JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested a man and a woman for allegedly throwing a molotov cocktail at a house in Taman Cahaya Masai here and setting it on fire. Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the 30-year-old man and 28-year-old woman were arrested at a house in Taman Puteri Wangsa near Ulu Tiram here at 11.30pm on Sunday (March 14). He said both suspects were believed to be involved in a March 4 incident, where a molotov cocktail was thrown at a house, setting fire to the front part of the house and the victim’s car. “We suspect that both of them were also involved in several other similar cases in Seri Alam, and splashing paint were part of their motive to claim debt payments. ....

Seri Alam District Police chief Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the suspects, both locals aged 30 and 28, were arrested at about 11.30pm during a raid on a house in Taman Puteri Wangsa, Ulu Tiram, here following a report lodged by the 30-year-old male victim. “The victim, through his report, claimed that the petrol bomb was thrown into the compound of his house at about 9am on March 4, causing the front part of his house and his vehicle to catch fire,” he said in a statement today. ....
GEORGE TOWN: Two police corporals on motorcycle patrol in Bukit Mertajam captured a man who was transporting a lorry-load of syabu, enough for 3.1 million addicts. Weighing 623.76kg in total with a street value of RM22.46mil, it is the country’s largest syabu seizure in five years. Kpl Simon Pasang Kana and Kpl Mohd Shahilmi Shadan were patrolling Jalan Kebun Nenas at 2am on Feb 25 when they spotted the lorry driver acting suspiciously. Federal Narcotics Crime Investigation Department director Comm Datuk Razarudin Husain said they instructed the driver, a 23-year-old Indonesian, to stop and when inspected, found 495 packs of syabu weighing 511.95kg in the cargo bed. ....
