Before the failed five attempts on the life of Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) Lieutenant Charl Kinnear in November 2019, alleged underworld figure Nafiz Modack had sent a picture of the policeman and his home to Amaal Jantjies, who is accused of orchestrating the hand grenade attack on Kinnear’s home.
Kinnear knew of this before the failed hand grenade incident at his home in Bishop Lavis on 23 November 2019. The next attack on Friday, 18 September 2020 outside his home was lethal.
This evidence and further voice recordings relating to the five assassination attempts on Kinnear in November 2019 are contained in the affidavit compiled by Warrant Officer Trevor Thomas Shaw. ....

Modack, an alleged underworld kingpin, faces a raft of charges, including alleged gang activity, being part of a hand grenade plot against slain Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) detective Charl Kinnear, and a shooting at the home of Cape Town lawyer, William Booth.

Alleged underworld figure Nafiz Modack appeared in court for a second successive day on Tuesday, alongside an Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) officer, to face charges of corruption.
The State alleges that Modack paid his co-accused, Sergeant Ashley Tabisher, R10,000 for information about AGU investigations against him.
The case, held in the Bishop Lavis Magistrates’ Court, was postponed until Monday to set a date for a bail application. Western Cape National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila indicated that the State would oppose bail.
Modack also faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, being part of a criminal gang, and conspiring to acquire and possessing an explosive device, related to five murder attempts on AGU regional commander Lieutenant-Colonel Charl Kinnear, who was shot dead outside his Bishop Lavis home on 18 September 2020. ....
