Sergeant Lynwen Thomas, who lived in St Clears, sadly died at the scene of the crash on Thursday evening. The 37-year-old officer was a keen cyclist and triathlete, and was Dyfed Powys Police’s heritage crime officer, working out of police headquarters in Llangunnor, Carmarthen. She had previously served as an officer in Pembrokeshire.

A memorial service has been held for a police officer who was killed when her bicycle was in a collision with a van on a dual carriageway in Carmarthenshire. Sergeant Lynwen Thomas, who was 37, died after the crash on the A40 west of Carmarthen on Thursday evening.
In the days following her death, tributes have flooded in for Sergeant Thomas, a former pupil at Ysgol Bro Myrddin, who was described as a “well-respected police officer”.
