But much more conservatively given that action. Weve got time for one question. Weve got one over here. My question is for resources and for actual and temptation, you set the individual select in the program arent necessarily eligible towards a term of community supervision. Who provides the service when you type about checking in on a weekly basis, are you checking in with the Probation Office . It is only so many Probation Officers limited to how many people they can supervise spirit at one time the committee placement of several may have four or five on their load of people because they spend so much time with each people to make sure they are successful. One of the things that we did in the alternative portion is further able to shed the community so we can watch supervision and work with partners and other state agencies to contribute training and resources. So there was no actual funding. It was just reinvestment. Please join me in taking our panel. [applause] you want me to int
My career as a teachers aide there were 291 women incarcerated in the entire state of the ohio. Today we have 4300. It has been a trend that is significant and if you think about the lowest crime rate, it is illogical. Weve had some more Current Trends and our population commitment there down a bit overall peers 6 increase in a number i want to talk about women just a second. As a look at the trending of women, what do we know . Its hard to see this. You can see the women as well, but its gone up and now we see 23 of revenue see probation violators. What i want to talk about is this gap between the intake and the actual population. Someone talked about a huge issue as length of stay. 2007 a
Inefficient system. There were, i think, a couple of months ago somebody looked at the Baltimore City jail and found that there were over 100 people there who were incarcerated for awaiting trial because they couldnt make bond of 100. The money bail system discriminates against poor people. It fails to take into account the most important criteria, the most important things we want to know when thinking about deta detaining somebody before trial, is the person likely to show up for trial, number within. Number two, is the person going to offend while he and i say he advisedly, its almost always he while he gets bail. What the Arnold Foundation has done great work, Excellent Way of using data, big data. Looked at over 1. 5 million cases and trieded to determine what would be priedictive of whether somebody vee late or offend out on bail and show up for trial. And the factors arent what you might intuitively think what judges think. Well, he lives with his mother, sure hes going to show
