very good conservative candidates and never really recovered from it. joining me now, director of communications for american cross roads and former press secretary for the national republican congressional committee. thank you both for joining us. thank you. hi. what was your reaction to the interview? bill kristol says in a sense romney was yesterday. i think there s two interviews. the first part was the governor and ann romney looking back at what happened. i got bored with that. looking forward was i thought a little bit more interesting but at the same time romney suspect the head of the party anymore so i don t know how relevant it was to the future. there s a history of losing presidential candidates, doing the postmortem on the cam plains. he s not the head of the party but init haved to cpac when the guy referred to as the boss on time magazine chris christie is waiting on the
happened and suddenly he was thrust into a very presidential spotlight that made him look better. but what concludes at the end, yes, he has had elements of luck in his career, but this is really about opportunity meeting preparation. and you have to make your luck, you know. willing to be lucky. obama is very, very brilliant, i think, at making his own luck by preparation and as you saw that with osama bin laden, that was long, long in the preparation. long in the preparation. and as we saw in the analysis of the campaign which he writes about. the fact they were able to destroy in a sense romney s reputation early on that they put that money early on that was a great campaign strategy for them and it worked. bob cusack, how is the hill looking at the president s win? well, i think it s interesting that the president, you know, after he won his first term, he went to republicans when they were getting into a dispute behind closed doors and he said i won. it was a pushback at rep
convention this year were people of stature who were seriously involved at some point in obama s life. standing up to say, i know barack obama, i ve been with barack obama. we have toiled together, you can trust him, i do. you said that was missing. romney has brought it up, condoleezzaa rice has brought it up, some critics have suggested that the president has the same problem that mitt romney has, that they actually are very similar in this way, that they remain a mystery, that people feel they don t really know these two men. what do you think about that comparison and how do you think mitt romney over comes that? well, i think there is a sense in which they are similar, because it s very, very difficult to understand the internal psychology of anyone, particularly at a distance. so i think in that sense romney is not that much different from any other presidential candidate who preceded him. but obama was absolutely different. he was utterly unique in the
that we can build upon, knowing that could carry them forward for what we need in this country. i want to know what their successful track record is. they need to talk about that going into this debate. sean: what would you want to hear the issue of the social security being a ponzi scheme has become a big issue. romney as addressed it. he had strong words today about president obama. he said that he s naive, arrogant, misguided, dangerous in terms of his foreign policy as it relates to israel and the palestinians. what would be the one thing you want to hear out of perry? and one thing you want to hear about romney in every poll the two front-runner runners. perry is right when he talked about obama s foreign policies as it relates to israel, misguided, weak, that has resulted in the palestinians thinking they are going to be given a state and using obama s own words against americans now as they go into this u.n. vote at the
followed like sheep behind president obama and allowed him no do what he has done in terms of harm to our economy. we are committed to increasing the number of fiscal conservatives in the house of representatives also. it is a big agenda out there for those of us who are extremely concerned about the future of our country and whether we are candidates or supportive of the right candidacies, we are going to be working so hard in these next 14 months. a lot is going to happen. mark my word, it is going to be an unconventional type of election process. sean: i tend to agree. we still await your decision. people ask me all the time, what i think you re gonna do. i vacillate, i can t tell at different times. here s an important question, let s look at the top three candidates now, governor perry, governor romney and michelle bachmann. strengths and weaknesses of the three?
