20-year-old student handed 18-month sentence after brutally beating up teacher over food


According to Tuko.co.ke, Samuel Muigai, a Murichu Secondary School student, was arrested after he beat up his teacher, identified as James Gikonyo who had wanted to reprimand him for jumping queue when the students were being served lunch.
On Tuesday, February 16, when the student appeared before the court, he pleaded with Nyahururu Senior Resident Magistrate James Wanyanga to pardon, with a promise to work on his anger.
He further expressed remorse at the incident and said he would look for the teacher and apologise to him for disrespecting him, especially in public.
Magistrate James Wanyanga handed Samuel Muigai an 18-month non-custodial sentence for the two offenses which he committed in January. ....

Form 2 Student In Alleged Plot To Hack Teacher, Form 3 Student Charged With Attempted Murder
A form two learner was Wednesday arrested over an alleged plot to attack a teacher with a machete at Mokwerero Secondary School in Kitutu Masaba, Nyamira county.
A police report indicates that the headteacher called the area assistant chief reporting that a student had attempted to kill the school’s deputy principal Jared Morara.
The 18-year-old student had reportedly stashed the panga inside his school bag. He was also found with a sharpening file.
The deputy principal was saved by other teachers and support staff who cornered the student and alerted the police. The student’s motive remains unknown as investigations continue. ....
