privacy. that is paramount. and you didn t leaking it? never, no. not at all. you want to respond. in the way that i frame add the question as if she orchestrated this, she did not. ford came to her first. anonymous. this is frankly infuriating. this woman says she was attacked, the victim of a sexual, a heinous crime. a sexual assault. and. they re arguing about who came forward. and the republican argument here is well, senator feinstein didn t handle this properly. even if you gave them that. we need to get to the truth of the matter. and the matter is not how senator feinstein handled this. the matter is whether a, her story about being sexually attacks by a nominee is true or not. and b, whether or not in his testimony he was truthful or whether on the other hand, he misled the committee and perhaps
testimony, she came across as someone extremely credible. extremely compelling, extremely intelligent. and i truly felt that she clearly went through a traumatic experience as a sexual assault victim. and she clearly in my view lives with the trauma of the unrelenting laughter of these men that did this to her and the image of her wanting two front doors to have another avenue for exit, that is the telltale signs of victims of such a traumatic experience from what i have understood knowing someone who has been in that situation. i truly believe there happened to her. at the same time, i truly believe that brett kavanaugh believes without a doubt 100% he did not do there. he is a man of character and integrity. and when he says he was he was not at these parties and didn t know her in that way and did not do that, he completely believe him. at the end of the day, no new
committee would have to approve such a request and, quote, the republican chairman of the rules committee and the republican chairman of the judiciary committee would both have to sign off on the request. that was an action senator feinstein staffers determined would have violated dr. ford s desire to remain anonymous. so that s why senator feinstein didn t go that route, because she couldn t have pursued that while preserving her constituent s desire for anonymity. now her constituent is no longer anonymous. white house and republicans in the senate have been adamant for reasons that are not clear, that they will not allow the fbi to investigate this allegation as part of brett kavanaugh s background check as a nominee, even though that s standard procedure in a case like this. if they won t let the fbi look into this, for whatever reason may they hate the fbi now so they don t want the fbi doing anything.
judgment about her story. how will she get a fair hearing if she don t have facts in front of them that have laid out they may not get it, by all indications she may not get it when we were listening to the president earlier today, he has said, you know, that everyone should be heard. but i guess i just keep going back to there just seems to be this rush. and alice, i m wondering why i m thinking if they had daughters and hair daughters said thdaughters their daughters said they were victims of sexual harassment, would they say let s go, monday is the day. what is the rush? the rush is that the committee has had a time line to move forward in order to get judge kavanaugh seated by october. but in my view, more than anything, the reason we re running up against the clock to beat a dead horse is that senator feinstein didn t release this two months ago. so what?
the confirmation. i think that s really important. dana: david, to you, the issue is that the conservatives have learned long ago that they could lose someone in a nomination battle. such as robert borg. obviously, the bork situation, if you look back at clarence thomas situation. if you look just two weeks ago at committee hearings. tv is not good for the centage, ntp is not good for hearings. while things, senator grassley has said, should move forward and they should be interviewed by the fbi and under oath, both to testify before the committee. not on camera, in my opinion. what you need to do, as senator grassley said, he is confused about why the lawyer for this person, who didn t have to release the person s name, didn t come to him and the committee and try and contact him. or, senator feinstein didn t. they never had to release the name to do that. yet, they didn t come forward. that is a confusing thing for
