A former attorney-general of the federation and minister of justice, Abdullahi Ibrahim, has died.
Ibrahim, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, served as minister of transport and aviation in the military regime of Muhammadu Buhari, reportedly died in an isolation centre in Abuja on Sunday. x
Ibrahim, a native of Kogi State, served as the AGF of the military regime of Abdusalami Abubakar, an army general, that handed over to the civilian administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999.
He also served as the minister of education, science and technology before his appointment as AGF.
Ibrahim was the latest among former and serving top government personalities who lost their lives to COVID-19 in Nigeria.
Mudashiru Obasa
Some members of the Lagos State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) have expressed displeasure over the sudden termination of appointments of some aides by the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa.
The members, who spoke anonymously pending when the leadership of the party would speak on the issue, described Obasa’s action as unfair. They said it could lead to depression in the affected aides, especially at this period of economic crises.
Obasa had on Tuesday evening terminated the appointment of four of his aides, including his chief of staff and his chief press secretary. Those affected by the decision are Chief of Staff, Saka Fafunmi; Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Tolani Abati; Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Dayo Famakinwa, and Special Adviser on Research, Oladimeji Oriyomi.
