Senate President Emeritus Mike Miller died Friday afternoon.In a statement, the Miller family said: At 4:25 p.m. this afternoon, Maryland Senate President Emeritus Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr. passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by loved ones. He was 78 years old. He s survived by his wife, Patti, son, Tommy, daughters, Amanda, Michelle, Melissa and Melanie, sisters, Susan, Cynthia, Melinda, Nancy and Kim, brothers, Jonathan, David and Mark, and his 15 grandchildren, and was predeceased by his sister Judith. Miller will lie in state in the rotunda of the Maryland State House on Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, in-person visitation will be limited to appointments for invited guests only. On Saturday, the family will hold a private Mass and service at their family church St. John the Evangelist in Clinton, followed by a private internment. “During his 50 years in public service, Senate President Emeritus Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr., has given tirelessly to the state of Maryland and to its citizens, leading with conviction and wisdom. Through the years, I along with my predecessors in the presidency of Loyola University Maryland, Rev. James Sellinger, S.J., and Rev. Harold Ridley, S.J. have appreciated his commitment to higher education and his support of Loyola in particular.
