We appeal.to the IATF to increase the amounts of vaccines to be given to the regions. I made this appeal weeks ago and I m making this appeal again today as cases are alarming. Vaccinations are key to protection and herd immunity, Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri said Tuesday.
Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri on Tuesday asked the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF) to deliver more vaccines to the regions as he expressed concern over the uptick of COVID-19 cases in Northern Mindanao.
“I made this appeal weeks ago and I m making this appeal again today as cases are alarming. Vaccinations are key to protection and herd immunity,” Zubiri, who hails from Bukidnon, said in a text message to reporters. ....

Zubiri calls for stricter COVID-19 measures in Northern Mindanao

The senator issued the appeal as he expressed alarm over the reported spike in the coronavirus infections in the region, which he said the IATF should also focus on.
“As a resident of Northern Mindanao, I am very alarmed by the recent surge of COVID-19 cases across the region,” Zubiri said in a statement.
“Two weeks ago, our regional IATF already reported a 300 percent rise in cases in Lanao del Norte. And this weekend, CDO reported that their numbers have risen to 962, from just 100-plus in March. In Bukidnon, our medical frontliners are struggling to deal with the sudden surge of COVID-19 patients,” he further said. ....

Zubiri issued the call following the delivery of million of coronavirus vaccines to the Philippines, raising the concern that these will end up spoiled in storage.
“So many vaccines have arrived in the country thanks to the efforts of Sec. Carlito Galvez and Sec. Vince Dizon. However, a lot of these vaccines are just sitting in storage, with many vaccination centers reporting a lack of people to vaccinate, under the A1 to A3 categories,” Zubiri said in his statement.
“As a matter of fact, I have been told that some vaccination centers have allowed walk-ins so as not to spoil the defrosted and opened vaccines,” he added. ....
