COLUMBUS, Ohio The budget plan passed Wednesday by the Ohio Senate “represents a bold step forward for a state emerging from a pandemic,” said Ohio Senate President Matt Huffman.
“We recognized the need for a well-educated workforce by investing in a new school funding plan that is reliable, sustainable and accountable to taxpayers,” Huffman said. “Additionally, the Senate delivered on its commitment to provide tax cuts. We fundamentally believe it is your money first, not the government’s.”
The Senate’s balanced budget brings additional relief to taxpayers through an across-the-board 5% income tax cut. Ohioans who earn less than $22,150 will continue to pay zero income tax.

Ohio Senate announces committee schedule for budget hearings Sen. Matt Huffman COLUMBUS – Senate President Matt Huffman (R-Lima) and Senate Finance Chairman Matt Dolan (R-Chagrin Falls) have released the Ohio Senate s tentative hearing schedule for the state budget, House Bill 110.
Under Ohio law, the Legislature must pass a balanced budget, and have it signed by the Governor, prior to July 1 of this year. The state s budget is one of the most complex and important pieces of legislation we will consider throughout this General Assembly, Huffman said. I trust the Senate will work diligently, efficiently and transparently to provide our great state with an operating budget that is both balanced and fiscally responsible, keeping the hard-working taxpayers of this state in mind with each decision made.
