All Nine GOP Senators On Panel Vote No On Water For Voters

All nine Republicans on a U.S. Senate panel including Minority Leader Mitch McConnell voted Tuesday against legislation intended to ensure that volunteers and organizations are allowed to hand out food and water to voters stuck in long lines across the country.
Democratic Sens. Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, who both represent Georgia, introduced the Voters Access to Water Act (pdf) in response to a sweeping law enacted by the Peach State s Republican legislators in March that critics condemned as a vicious attack on voter rights. Poll workers in the state can set up self-service water receptacles, but volunteers are now banned from passing out food or water. ....

Stacey Abrams Issued a Scathing 2-Minute Read Against the Georgia Voting Law
(Image: Twitter)
Stacey Abrams went viral on Wednesday while explaining how restrictive and racist she finds Georgia’s controversial voting rights law.
The Democratic politician appeared in a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday and didn’t hold back when Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) asked Abrams to provide a list of provisions for the new voting law that she’s been a fierce opponent of,
HuffPost reports.
“It shortens the federal runoff period from nine weeks to four weeks,” Abrams said. “It restricts the time a voter can request and return an absentee ballot application. It requires that voters have a photo identification or some other form of identification that they are willing to surrender in order to participate in the absentee ballot process.” ....

Roger Wicker Tried To Take Credit for American Rescue Plan

Mississippi s senior senator was quickly roasted on social media.
By Chelsea SteinerMar 11th, 2021, 12:32 pm
On Friday, President Joe Biden will sign into law the American Rescue Plan, a record-breaking stimulus package worth $1.9 trillion dollars. It’s a huge victory that was only made possible thanks to the slim majority Democrats hold in the Senate and the House. Zero Republicans voted for the bill in Congress, but that won’t stop them from trying to take credit for the vastly popular plan. Republican Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS) quickly jumped on the coattails of the Democrats’ success, tweeting “Independent restaurant operators have won $28.6 billion worth of targeted relief. This funding will ensure small businesses can survive the pandemic by helping to adapt their operations and keep their employees on the payroll.” ....

The Senate took up Democrats’ proposed coronavirus relief package, with a nearly $2 trillion price tag, on Thursday afternoon. The hefty, 628-page bill is backed by the White House and Democrats in both chambers, but is filled with unrelated, spending line-items and was made public just hours before being taken up.
Republicans remain united against unnecessary spending, and in favor of delivering real relief to Americans in need. To expose the extraneous spending items within the package, GOP Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) forced a full reading of the bill on the Senate floor.
Senate clerks have now been reading the Democrats’ 628-page covid relief bill for more than 4 hours. They’ve been rotating between a few clerks who have been reading the text aloud Manu Raju (@mkraju) March 5, 2021 ....

In net neutrality victory lap, Ajit Pai says Democrats admitted he was right

Former Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai said some Democrats have admitted to him that they were wrong in their dire predictions about his controversial decision to remove Obama-era net neutrality rules.
A few politicians on the other side of the aisle have told me, quietly, yes, it was a lot of sound and fury about nothing, Pai told the
Washington Examiner. “Not publicly, but privately many have apologized and recognized they were wrong about net neutrality.
Net neutrality is the principle that internet service providers should treat all data on the internet the same and not discriminate or charge differently based on where it’s coming from or to whom it’s going. Under Pai, the FCC in 2017 voted down net neutrality rules created by the commission in 2015. ....
