Fallen Selbyville fire company member Laura Madara laid to rest Sunday

Laura Madara s father stood up and saluted his daughter s coffin with a shaking hand as a sole bugle performed Taps Sunday at the woman s gravesite.
Madara, a Selbyville Volunteer Fire Company member and president of the Ladies Auxiliary, was killed on April 9 after a Selbyville Fire Police truck reversed into her on the scene of a separate vehicle crash. Madara s funeral services resulted in an outpouring of support from numerous different fire companies and departments.
About 100 law enforcement officials, family and friends were in attendance for Madara s funeral service. Fire engines from across the state flanked the path of the procession as residents stood on their front lawns to pay their respects. ....

The Selbyville Volunteer Fire Company said one of its members was killed while on the scene of a vehicle crash Friday afternoon.
Laura Madara, president of the Ladies Auxiliary, died after sustaining injuries she suffered in a department crash, according to a statement posted to the fire company s Facebook page.
Delaware State Police said Saturday morning that the 56-year-old woman was struck by a Selbyville Fire Police truck that was being utilized to assist with traffic control while on scene for a separate motor vehicle crash.
As the scene was cleared, the truck, being operated by a 79-year-old Selbyville man, reversed into Madara. She was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. ....
