인도서 구호 활동하던 한인, 7개월째 수감 중…'개종금지법'이 발목 잡았다

글쓴이 이모씨는 여동생 A씨가 인도 우타르 프라데시주 교도소에 갇혀 있다는 사실을 알리며 A씨가 교도소에 수감된 건 3주 전 인도에서 통과된 ‘개종금지법’ 때문이라고도 밝혔다.

인도의 ‘개종금법’은 위협, 부당한 영향력 등 부정한 수단으로 다른 사람을 개종하거나 개종을 시도할 수 없도록 하는 법으로, 선교회 소속이던 A씨의 발목을 잡았다.

당시 구호 활동에 주력하고 있던 A씨는 이웃 주민의 집을 방문했고 포상금을 노린 다른 주민이 A씨가 선교 활동을 했다며 거짓 신고를 했다는 것.
