It was just the start to the Central Missouri Activities Conference schedule the Jefferson City Jays wanted. Coming off a CMAC title last year, the Jays picked up their first conference dual victory of the season Thursday with a 59-21 victory against the Sedalia Smith-Cotton Tigers at Fleming Fieldhouse.
For the first time in program history, the Jefferson City Lady Jays received team honors.
The Lady Jays took first in the Steve Johnson Invitational with 92 points Saturday at Fleming Fieldhouse, finishing just ahead of Blair Oaks in second with 85. Wright City claimed third at 71 points.
The Blair Oaks Falcons finally found their offense in the fourth quarter. Blair Oaks attempted just 32 shots in 32 minutes Thursday night, but it made 8-of-10 shots from the floor in the fourth quarter to edge the Sedalia Smith-Cotton Tigers for a 47-43 victory at Blair Oaks High School.
When the Central Missouri Activities Conference was formed in 2020, there were seven members. But there was always an interest in adding an eighth school. On Wednesday, the conference added the school they always wanted as Camdenton was announced to be the eighth member starting in the 2024-25 school year. Camdenton will be a member of the Ozark Conference until it disbands at the end of this school year.
Camdenton High School will join the Central Missouri Activities Conference, which currently includes Jefferson City, Capital City, Helias and four other schools.
