金城文理学院的理学部，有两栋实验楼最为体面，分别叫做“格物楼”和“致知楼”。这两栋楼都是五十年代苏联援建的成果，据说是苏联莫斯科大学的某两栋实验楼的复制版。学校本着洋为中用的方针，分别用“格物”和“致知”这两个文言词儿给这两个建筑命名。很可惜，这两个文言词儿读起来太拗口，学生们还是习惯用“物理楼”和“化学楼”来称呼它们。
当年的化学系到底占据的是哪个楼，我记不清楚了。记不清也好，这样两个楼的往事就可以写到一起了。诱发本文故事的，是一个白金坩埚。考虑到白金坩埚是化学系的试验设备，我们姑且说故事发生在化学楼吧。故事的主要人物是我们几个同学以和老师。为了避免人肉搜索揭露出太多肉疼的往事，所以本文人物，一概借用� ....
