The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has formed a central committee and subcommittees to improve the condition of cemeteries, end monopoly of graveyard mafia and facilitate the process of burials.
The cooperation and collaboration of civil society, and social and welfare organisations has also been [ensured] so that the complaints of the citizens regarding the cemeteries can be resolved, KMC Administrator Laeeq Ahmed said during the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Sailani Welfare Trust and Jaffaria Disaster Management Cell (JDC) Welfare Foundation for the management of new cemeteries. ....

One-window facility to be introduced at KMC graveyards

Administrator Laeeq Ahmed on Monday announced that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) will introduce a one-window facility at every graveyard under the control of the municipal body.
Ahmed lamented the condition of the KMCâs cemeteries, saying that they are being controlled by graveyard mafias, who have been ruling the cityâs cemeteries. He ordered the KMCâs officials to make the burial process at these graveyards simpler by introducing a one-window facility.
The graveyardsâ managing committees â which include welfare organisations such as the Saylani Welfare Trust (SWT), the Jafaria Disaster Management Cell (JDC) Welfare Organisation, the Edhi Foundation and the Chhipa Welfare Association (CWA) â will work for providing better facilities at the KMCâs cemeteries. ....
