The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said Saturday that the key cryptography called PhilSys Check features a quick response (QR) code system, which enables the relying parties to authenticate the Philippine Identification (PhilID) card and verify the data stored in its QR code. Philippine Registry Officer-in-Charge and Assistant National Statistician Fred Sollesta said the PhilSys Check is part of the government's efforts to promote "greater financial inclusion and unlocking access to basic social services" to more Filipinos. PSA Assistant Secretary Rosalinda Bautista said the delivered PhilID cards covered 24.2 percent of this year's set delivery target of 33.8 million.
