QC down to 14 new Covid-19 cases per day: OCTA

PNA file photo MANILA - The Quezon City government is now reporting an average of 14 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases per day, according to the latest data released by the OCTA Research Group. The city government posted Wednesday on its Facebook page that with the decline in the number of average new cases per day, the city's positivity rate is also down to 1.7 percent from 1.8 percent last week. QC Mayor Joy Belmonte welcomed this development which she attributed to residents for continuously following health and safety protocols still imposed up to this day. Belmonte said the success in the fight against Covid-19 is also a result of the city government's effort to mitigate the spread of the disease. "We welcome this positive development as this is a testament to our relentless campaign against Covid-19. Hindi lang ito tagumpay ng ating lokal na pamahalaan kundi pati na rin ng mga residente na walang pagod at matiyagang nakiisa sa ating mga pagkilos para mapi ....

PRRD bid for house-to-house vax gets OK from Go, Binay

(Photo courtesy of Negros Occidental-PIO) MANILA - Senators Christopher "Bong" Go and Nancy Binay have backed the government's plan to go house-to-house to boost the vaccination campaign. President Rodrigo Duterte suggested on the weekly "Talk to the People" on Tuesday that expiring Covid-19 vaccine doses be administered by bringing them to households. "Sa halip na masayang at mag-expire, dapat proactive po tayo para lalo pang ma-ilapit ang bakuna sa komunidad (Instead of letting it go to waste and expire, we should be proactive so we can bring the vaccine closer to the community)," Binay said in a statement. Binay said the it is time to change the strategy to fight hesitancy. "Pero ang unahin na po muna natin 'yung mga naka-schedule for boosters para fully covered na sila (But we should prioritize those who are already scheduled for boosters so they can be fully covered)," she added. Go likewise urged authorities to intensify the vaccina ....
