　　南京博物院院长龚良介绍，国内现有的运河主题博物馆都是从某一角度或在某一地域局部展现大运河的文化要素，扬州中国大运河博物馆则是从时间跨度、空间跨度上实现大运河文化全流域、全时段、全方位的整体概念表达，以此来立体呈现大运河的历史和文化。龚良说：“全流域指的是从隋唐大运河到京杭大运河再到浙东运河，全部包含在博物馆里；全时段指的是从春秋时候开始开凿大运河，一直到今天。既不是到晚清，也不是到民国，而是到今天的；全方位指的是大运河所体现的历史、文化、艺术，我们都要有所涉及。”
