In an apparent effort to kill fewer people, police departments across the country are investing in what is basically an electronic lasso designed to automatically restrain suspects without cops having to electrocute or shoot them.
As recently noted by Motherboard, the BolaWrap Remote Restraint device looks a lot like a taser and functions, more or less, like something from a James Bond film. It uses gunpowder to explosively discharge an eight-foot “Kevlar tether” designed to fly through the air and ensnare a suspect with barbed restraints. Also referred to as “remote handcuffs,” it allegedly works at a distance of 10 to 25 feet and is meant to be used on suspects who are “non-compliant.” A user’s manual for the police department in West Plains, Missouri, provides a lot of details on how the device is ostensibly supposed to be used. ....

Seattle City Council Member Lisa Herbold, who defunded Seattle police, calls 911 for a crime she wants legalized, a report says.
As per The Post Millennial, Herbold called 911 Friday night when a man allegedly threw a rock at her window, which she initially thought was a gun shot that she docked for cover in her kitchen.
The crime she reported to 911 for help from ironically was the very crime she wanted legalized two months earlier.
Herbold, the Post Millennial said, introduced an ordinance in October that will excuse crimes of minor nature anything less of a felony committed by persons exhibiting symptoms of addiction or mental disorder out of the need for survival to supply a basic need. Herbold was said to already have completed formal discussion on the ordinance with the legislation a week earlier to her calling 911. ....

Seattle City Council Member Lisa Herbold wants to defund the Seattle Police Department. She also wants to decriminalize (make legal) vandalism and all misdemeanors.
Things looked different to her on Friday night, however, and she called 911 for help after a vandal damaged her home.
Allegedly, according to The Post Millennial, a man threw a rock through Herbold’s window. In a redacted police report, Herbold told responding officers that she “was on the west side of the living room near the kitchen when she heard a loud noise that sounded like a gunshot and dove into the kitchen for cover.” ....
