Volunteers searching for Seacor Power mariners find 2-pound package of cocaine on Last Island Share Updated: 11:27 AM CDT Apr 27, 2021 WDSU Digital Team Share Updated: 11:27 AM CDT Apr 27, 2021 WDSU Digital Team The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff s Office investigated a suspicious package reported Monday by civilians searching for the missing Seacor Power mariners.Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet said that on Monday afternoon, civilians who volunteered to patrol the coastal waterways of Terrebonne Parish in reference to the Seacor Lift Boat Search Operation located a suspicious package that washed up on Last Island. Authorities were notified and the package was brought to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office. The package was determined to be approx. 2 pounds of cocaine, according to Soignet. Soignet thanked the citizens for their effort and honestly in the matter. ....
Updated: 3:35 PM CDT Apr 27, 2021 WDSU Digital Team The family of a man killed when the Seacor Power liftboat capsized two weeks ago has filed a lawsuit against the company. Ernest J. Williams body was recovered April 15. The lawsuit was filed in St. Mary Parish on behalf of Williams wife and his nine adult children. It seeks damages for personal injury and wrongful death from four defendants: two Seacor entities; Talos Energy, which hired the liftboat; and SEMCO LLC, which constructed the liftboat.The family alleges the companies had complete disregard for crew safety when the liftboat sailed into severe weather. The lawsuit notes marine warnings were in place when the vessel capsized 8 miles offshore from Port Fourchon. The defendants . knew or should have known of the deteriorating and dangerous conditions, the complaint said.There have been two other lawsuits filed since the Seacor Power capsized April 13.
