Dan Diane Stewart is on administrative leave tonight. You may remember her heart felt words during the memorial for Fallen Police sergeant. Ama the city manager wouldnt talk on camera, but did confirm that the chief has been placed on administrative leave pending the completion of a personnel investigation. Dan stewart is haywards First Female Police officer. That was in august of 2011. Before that she was an assistant chief. It was a department she joined as rookie officer in 1986. Ama mark kholer is acting chief. This leaves three major bay area cities with fill ins in the Police Chiefs office along with hayward, oakland and San Francisco also looking for chiefs. When i look up through the atmosphere, we can see the amount of water and all of this red color is dry air. And it has been over the last day or so sneaking farther and farther southward. So when i zoom in here, look at the red color, its starting to retreat. What it will do is help to limit our rain chances and thats what we have seen so far today. A couple showers just offsho but not onshore, at least not yet. In the headline, the storms will be limited during the afternoon. But even though fall starts tomorrow, the first few day thes of fall will all be near days of fall will all be near 90 degrees. And in the tropic, two surgeries neither will affect the united states. And this bay was so stunningly gorgeous. And id feel a little guilty. And the question was, well, why is this place so special . How come it missed all those problems that almost every other place in the ocean has . And the answer as we dug into it, me and my coauthor, it turns out that monterey bay had all those problems. It didnt miss them, it had them all. And 80 years ago this was a place you wouldnt want to be standing, right on this beach, doing anything because the water was polluted, the air was foul. The seals were gone, the whales were gone, the otters were gone, the abalone were gone, fishing was bad. Sardines eventually were all taken as well. So all of that was happening 80 years ago, and the difference is that monterey bay got better.
