FBR barred from issuing notices to taxpayers from July; no DLTL Business June 4, 2021 KARACHI: The government has barred the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) from issuing notices from next fiscal year with the taxpayers enabled to carry out self-assessment, finance minister said on Thursday. Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin said only 4 to 5 percent of the cases will be forwarded to audit that will be done by third party instead of the FBR. “I want to remove harassment by FBR,” Tarin said addressing an online meeting with the office bearers Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry. “We have agreed upon universal tax self-assessment and the audits by third party only.” ....
Payment of DLTL textile claims demanded National April 30, 2021 KARACHI: Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, former SVP FPCCI, has asked the SAPM on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood to release funds for the payment of the DLTL balance claims of textile sector. Baig said the Ministry of Commerce had released Rs. 1.3 billion for the payment of textile DLTL claims for 2019-20 and incremental claims for 2018-19, but according to State Bank, the funds were not sufficient to pay the DLTL claims and additional funds were needed to be released immediately to pay the remaining. Baig appreciated efforts of SAPM Dawood to improve the cash flow of the small exporters which would be instrumental to increase the exports of Pakistan. ....
Business April 24, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Ministry of commerce has released Rs2.5 billion under drawback on local taxes and levies (DLTL) in line with the longstanding demand of industries that are facing liquidity crunch due to unsettled funds, commerce adviser said on Friday. “MoC [ministry of commerce] has released Rs1,154 million for the non-textiles sector and Rs1,346 million for the textiles sector, a total of Rs2,500 million under DLTL schemes,” Adviser to Prime Minister for Commerce and Investment Razak Dawood wrote on Twitter. “Hope this will resolve the liquidity issues of our exporters and enable them to enhance exports,” Dawood added. Textile sector that accounts for over 60 percent of the country’s exports has been calling for release of stuck refunds and rebates to get out of liquidity crunch. ....
