I don t even know how to do anything. reporter: that s when he signed up for a six-week course at scratch dj academy. the academy has taught over 500,000 students how to manipulate other people s music to create their own sound. the dj s becoming more and more of a rock star almost every year. reporter: dj dirty digits teaches at scratch s new york branch. he teaches kids as young as 8 to an emergency room surgeon. he even inspired me to hit the tables. that didn t really sound so good. think of the record like a clock. almost pretend like there s glue in your fingertips. you don t want to pick your hand up. yeah. there you go. do you find this is sort of an escape for people? complete escape for people. they don t really envision themselves becoming a professional dj per se. they don t want to play big clubs and arenas. it s just something they re passionate about doing. complete escape for them. ....

and josh is here with us now. do we see a change of career coming? well, before i spent the day at scratch dj academy, you know, i didn t really think of the turntables as a musical instrument. but after watching dj dwells and hearing him create music right in front of me, he was not just pressing play, i m sold. he s pretty amazing, i d say, for any age. but at 14 especially. amazing. how did he come up with his name, and what s next for his career? well, he actually wouldn t tell me. he told me it was a secret. so i respected that. but i did ask him about what he plans for his career, and he says i want to win this dmc competition. he already made it to second place in the u.s. he wants to win the worlds. and after that he wants to be a producer. he says he s kind of almost ready to give up the performing aspect of it. quite a future for this i would say little guy. but he s a teenager. thank you so much for sharing your dj adventures with us. anytime. thanks, man. and ....
