Officials with the Amarillo Police Department are looking to the community for help regarding the recent vandalism which occurred at the splash pad located at Medi Park in late June. Cpl. Scott Welling, the Amarillo Police Department’s coordinator with the Amarillo Crime Stoppers, said the officials found the damage to the splash pad the morning of June 27, after it was intact the evening of June 26. According to a news release, suspects caused more than $25,000 worth of damage to the splash pad, originally purchased by Southwest Ambucs. Welling said this included the fixtures of the splash pad itself. “One was like a coyote that shot water out of the top of it. It was actually taken off and the coyote was actually stolen from it. (There was) damage to the other fixtures there at the splash pad,” he said. “Obviously, there’s no cameras or anything out there. If someone knows something about this crime, it could help us get it solved.” ....
