WEEPING WATER â Four young women will have a chance to represent their hometowns on stage at one of the top events of the Cass County Fair. Annika Covington, Rylee Hogue, Jami Twomey and Kelsi Vogler will participate in this yearâs Cass County Fair Queen Contest. The coronavirus pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 event, which meant students from both 2020 and 2021 graduating years could participate in this summerâs contest. Covington is Miss Louisville 2021, Hogue is Miss Elmwood 2021, Twomey is Miss Weeping Water 2021 and Vogler is Miss Weeping Water 2020. They will appear on stage in the Open Air Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11. ....
District places WPHS on remote learning Tabi Jozwick, Voice Correspondent SCIOTA During Thursday’s meeting, West Prairie Superintendent Guy Gradert told the school board West Prairie High School students would be in remote learning from Friday until April 30. The superintendent said about 75 to 80 high school students were absent on Thursday, which was about half of the high school student population. He said he consulted with both the McDonough County Health Department and West Prairie school board president Lee Moore before deciding to place the high school under remote learning. Gradert told the school board that for the health and safety of their high school students, he recommended that the high school does not participate in extracurricular activities while being under remote learning.
