FORSYTH, Mo. (AP) U.S. Rep. Billy Long, who is considering a run for the U.S. Senate, plans to attend a fundraiser at former President Donald Trump s Florida golf resort, he said.
Long, a Republican from Springfield, told the Taney County Lincoln Day gathering on Saturday he will attend the April 28 event at Mar-a-Lago, where tickets start at $2,900 per person, The Springfield News-Leader reported.
Long said Trump asked him to attend. Long acknowledged that nothing may come of his being at the fundraiser but said it will give him a chance to remind Trump about his long-time support. ....

Former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens showed he still has an enthusiastic following among rural voters Friday night, with his entrance at the Macon County Lincoln Days highlighted by an extended standing ovation.

Greitens, who is seeking the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in 2022, waited to make his entrance until the evening s most popular event the homemade pie auctioned at prices up to $400 was complete. Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, who launched a Senate campaign last month, met with GOP leaders in Washington recently, and party operatives are scrambling to recruit a handful of other Republicans into the race.
