Woman on 'death bed' pleads for mediation with HSE

A 73-year-old woman described as being on her death bed with cervical cancer has pleaded with the HSE to enter direct mediation talks with her before her High Court action which is due to begin next week.
Joan Lucey, Cooleen, Dingle, Co Kerry has sued the HSE, Clinical Pathology Laboratories Incorporated (CPL)with headquarters in Austin, Texas, USA and MedLab Pathology Ltd with registered offices at Sandyford Business Park, Dublin over the alleged misreading, misinterpretation or misreporting of her cervial smear tests taken in February 2011 and August 2011.
Lawyers for Joan Lucey, who is terminally ill, say she is only being offered hollow sympathy from the HSE. ....

A terminally ill West Kerry woman is pleading for mediation talks to begin in her case against the HSE and others over the alleged misreading of cervical smears.
Legal representatives of Joan Lucey from Cooleen, Dingle, were in the High Court yesterday, as part of an action being taken against the HSE and two laboratories.
The Irish Independent reports that the court heard that the 73-year-old, a retired nurse, has terminal cervical cancer and has only weeks to live.
The paper reports that Joan Lucey’s representatives told the High Court that the retired nurse is in the last weeks of her life and is inviting the parties to mediation talks. ....
